CAFWCL: Shaibu boosts Delta Queens, promises cash prize for a goal each against Athletico Ladies.

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu has given a huge morale booster to Nigerian representative at the ongoing WAFU -B women’s champions league qualifiers, Delta Queens as they take on Athletico Ladies of Cote D’Ivoire in the first semi-final match on Monday afternoon.

Delta Queens had booked their place in the last four after defeating their group opponents – Sam Nelly FC and USFA of Burkina Faso 3-0 and 2-0 retrospectively without conceding a goal.

Visiting the team in their dressing room minutes before the game, Shaibu promised to give the Deltans huge amount in naira each for each goal scored against their Ivorian counterparts.

Shaibu, an undisputed sports-loving personality and unarguably the most sports-loving political post holder in Nigeria made the promise in huge support of the team he tagged as a twin sister to Edo Queens FC.

The match kicks off at 3 pm and a win for Delta Queens will see them progress to the final where the Blankson Tosan-led girls will fancy their chances of lifting the trophy and snatch the sole ticket to represent West Africa Zone B in the CAF Women’s Champions League slated for Cote D’Ivoire later in the year.
