Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi shared his enthusiasm after meeting Boxing Promoters Association of Nigeria President Omonlei Yakubu Imadu in Kampala on Tuesday, during the Africa Boxing Union convention.

The UBF President, Muhangi, credited with launching the Uganda Boxing Champions League now in its third season, acknowledged following Imadu’s progress with the Yucateco Boxing League in Nigeria and was delighted to meet the trailblazer, he shared with Kampala reporters.

“It’s good to have finally met Mr. Imadu, his passion for amateur boxing development should be encouraged especially what he and his team are doing with the Yucateco Boxing League in Nigeria”

“My federation also followed the Pan-African boxing championship he initiated in Togo, Benin, and other West African countries recently, sincerely his model is the aptest way to go if the continent is to take its rightful place in the sports globally”

Moses said he and his team have held several talks with the BPAN boss on a possible collaborative initiative to expose more pugilists across Africa.

“I am pleased to say that the ABU convention has truly made our job easier based on all we have been able to achieve, let me assure you that the story is about to change for boxing in Africa owing to our talks with the president of BPAN, we are looking at expanding our respective leagues and several other developmental initiatives, and in the coming weeks we shall unveil our plan”

The African Boxing Union convention, kicking off in Kampala on Sunday, August 18th, is scheduled to climax on Friday, August 20th.
