President of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), Engr. Chukwudi Elekwachi Dimkpa, has applauded the National Sports Commission (NSC) for reaffirming his position as President of the Federation, describing the Commission’s decision as a demonstration of its commitment to due process, fairness, and the preservation of institutional integrity in sports administration.
The National Sports Commission’s decision brings clarity to the leadership of the Karate Federation of Nigeria, allowing the Federation to focus fully on its core mandate of developing karate and promoting excellence in the sport across the country.
Speaking after the announcement, Dimkpa expressed profound appreciation to the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, and the Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, for their commitment to justice, fairness, and due process throughout the process.
“I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the National Sports Commission, particularly Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olopade, for their unwavering commitment to due process, fairness, and the rule of law. Their leadership has further strengthened confidence in the administration of sports in Nigeria.”
The Karate Federation of Nigeria President said the time had come for the entire karate family to move forward together in the collective interest of the sport.
“There is no winner and no loser today. The true winner is Nigerian karate. I extend my hand of fellowship to every member of our karate family and invite all stakeholders to join me as we work together to build a stronger, more united Federation.”
Dimkpa pledged to run an inclusive administration anchored on transparency, collaboration, and mutual respect, assuring athletes, coaches, referees, officials, and other stakeholders that they would all have an important role to play in advancing the Federation.
“My administration will operate an open-door policy. We will carry everyone along and focus on developing our athletes, strengthening our institutions, supporting our coaches and referees, expanding grassroots participation, and positioning Nigeria among the leading karate nations in the world.”
He emphasised that his administration would be judged not by the circumstances leading to his emergence, but by the progress made in transforming the Federation and creating lasting opportunities for the development of the sport.
Yesterday, the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to fairness, equity, and justice in the governance of Nigeria’s sports federations. He also appealed to all members of the karate community to embrace reconciliation, peace, and harmony, while urging the newly affirmed President to maintain an open-door policy and work closely with all stakeholders to reposition karate for greater success both nationally and internationally.
