After five days and seven events, the gymnastic clubs/association super championship officially came to end on Friday 5th of August,2022.
Present at the closing ceremony were dignitaries, The deputy governor of Edo state; Comrade shaibu Phillip and his wife Mrs Maryann shaibu, permanent secretary Edo state sports commission; Mrs Sabina Chikere, outgoing director of sports; Mr Arewa Donatus, former honourable commissioner; Mr Donald Okogbe, former SSA Edo state Hon Emma Akhaba, Executive director Sports Science and Medicine; Mrs Anehifa Emenya, Chief Ayiri Emami; The Ologbosere of Warri Kingdom.
The closing ceremony featured an awards/medal-giving session where gymnasts who performed exceptionally from all categories and levels of the event were given medals. Amongst the dignitaries who presented the medals were Arewa Donatus outgoing director of sports, and Mrs Sabina Chikere P.S Edo State Sports Commission. Edo state gymnastic club came first in the overall performance followed by the Body Language gymnastic club of Lagos and thirdly FCT.
In a brief note after the opening remarks by Mrs Sabina Chikere, the president of the gymnastic federation Mr. otasowie applauded the state government for the zeal and passion to ensure the development and sustainability of sports in the state which aided the success of the concluded gymnastic super championship.
Thereafter, gymnasts from the younger categories level 1-3 and the senior team paraded and displayed some major stunts and skills in gymnastics to the pleasure of the Dignitaries and spectators present.
In a heartfelt closing speech, the Deputy Governor appreciated all special guests and the leadership of the gymnastic federation of Nigeria. He further congratulated all the participants emphasising that they are all winners, he also especially applauded parents for bringing their wards out to participate and his excitement couldn’t be hidden as he was grateful that the state was able to put up a solid and befitting structure for gymnastic. Thereby declaring the championship closed.
