In a move for a smooth transition of administrative authority to a legitimate elected executive council for the first time in almost a decade, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria —Edo state chapter — Friday afternoon inaugurated a 3-man electoral committee to conduct election into various executive positions.
The committee selection, which took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium press centre, saw the emergence of Mr. Lucky Isibor as the chairman while Mr Simeon Osagie and Mr. Abavo Kingsley emerged as members, respectively.
Their emergence was, however, adopted by Congress, thereby enabling them the legitimate authority to conduct the election.
Addressing the electoral committee, the chairman of the caretaker committee, Mr. Ozioruva Aliu, tasked the electoral committee to carry out a credible election that will see the emergence of individuals with the progress of the association at heart for the birthing of prosperity in the association.
He advised the committee to play by the rules of the association’s statutes by allowing a level playing ground for all aspirants for the various positions in the association’s executive council.
Late Comrade Ahmed Aignona was the last elected chairman of the association after he returned for his second term in 2017.
Present at today’s congress and inauguration of the electoral committee was the SWAN zonal secretary (South-South), Mr Joseph Isokpehi.
