During its latest congress held on Wednesday, March 3, at the Media Centre, Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, the Edo State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) came together to discuss various matters pivotal to the organization’s progress and unity.
The assembly concluded with a set of resolutions that underscored the collective spirit and future direction of the chapter.
Firstly, the congress celebrated the prevailing harmony among its local members and extended a call for unity within the national leadership, with emphasis on the importance of solidarity across all levels of the association.
Also, another point of satisfaction among the members was the noted growth in membership, which has seen a substantial increase, ensuring the body is well-positioned to conduct its affairs effectively and in alignment with the SWAN statutes.
Amongst issues discussed, the congress recognized the commendable commitment of its members to fulfill their financial obligations to the association. It also issued a reminder to those yet to complete their dues, as it is needed for support in preparation for the upcoming chapter election.
The assembly also touched on the ongoing efforts to resolve existing crises at the national level of SWAN. Members voiced their support for these initiatives and urged for a prompt and constructive resolution to the challenges being faced.
The Communique Drafting Committee, led by Comrade Lucky Isibor with Kingsley Abavo as the Secretary and Isaac Olamikan as a member, was instrumental in compiling the resolutions reached during the congress.
