Coach of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Edo SWAN, Joseph Isokpehi has declared camp open for his players ahead of a novelty football match against Benin Airport Football Club, platinumnewsng.com is reporting

The match is scheduled for Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Benin airport football pitch.

Coach Joseph on Wednesday morning, in Benin City confirmed that the boys are expected to arrive in camp on Friday, June 28, to begin preparations for the match.

Edo SWAN is expected to be led by its foreign-based players amongst who are Wole Opatola, Emmerson Edo, and Wale Williams who are expected to hit town from their respective bases abroad.

The team captain, Saliu Ibrahim will lead the home-based players including Kehinde Osagede, Chika Ogbiche, Moses Idahosa, David Alabi, Precious Naets, Nosa Iguma, and Stephen Odinaka, to camp Friday evening.

Other players expected to make the list are Randy Micah, Paul Ochonogor, Israel Onyeka, Solomon Aina, Austin Smith, Eghosa Aigbekaen, Osaro Aguebor, and others.

The coach expressed optimism going into the game, hoping that his boys will deliver a good performance on the match day; though he’s still sweating over the fitness of some of the team’s players like Adeleke Ayoola (ankle), Bolaji Jokanola (groin), and others who are suffering from one injury or the other.

“My boys are ready to go and I believe that they will give a good account of themselves. This is a tune-up match for the boys, to keep them in good shape, so we are only going to use it as a more intensive training match.”

We have also extended invitations to our foreign-based players and we hope to have them in camp as soon as possible. We are ready.”

The ‘Pen Pushers’ known for their sound knowledge undiluted analysis and unbiased reports in their respective platform will be eager to entertain their opponents and spectators with the new tikitaka brand of football initiated by the coach of the side.
