Togolese Boxing Federation Boss Expresses Delight with Yucateco Pan-African Boxing Championship

President of the Togolese boxing federation Dr. Jules Mawusse Kpokpo, has expressed delight over the maiden Yucateco Pan-African Boxing Championship which gets on the way on Friday, June 22nd in the Togolese capital.

Kpokpo told reporters in Lomé that the country is excited to host the first-ever Pan-African Amateur Boxing Championship initiated by the Yucateco Boxing promotions.

” This marks a new dawn for amateur boxing in Africa and we are doing all our part as the host country to ensure it’s a huge success, and we hope to use the opportunity to raise a new generation of boxers for our country”.

Dr. Mawusse, further noted that the country’s Minister of Sports Development ‘Lidi Bessi Kama, will be at the event to encourage not only Togolese boxers but also those from other countries.

“The sports minister has told me he wants us to make a bold statement with the Pan-African boxing championship and we started necessary preparation since the signing of the MOU with Yucateco boxing promotions last month”

“Let me further use this opportunity to commend Mr. Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, CEO of Yucateco boxing promotions for his bold steps to change the phase of boxing in the continent.

The Yucateco Pan-African Boxing Championship will hold at the Togolese boxing Gymnasium in Lomé, with pugilists expected from Ghana, Benin Rep, Mali, Guinea, Niger and Cameroon. Others are hosts Togo, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire, and Nigeria.
