With the 2023/24 Nigeria Premier League season just around the corner, Enyimba, Rivers United, Heartland and Rangers alongside other massive three top Nigeria elite sides with three lower-division clubs in contention for the top honours at the 2023 Tico/Select Preseason Tournament set to get underway in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Meanwhile, Abia Warriors, Bayelsa United and Akwa United are the other domestic top-flight teams to have so far registered their interests in participating in the Preseason showdowns organised by the ex-Nigeria International, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, who is also the Sporting Director at Enyimba of Aba.
However, newly formed and promoted side, Coal City United, FC One Rocket, and holders, Apex Krane FC make up the 10-club list already drafted for the tournament.
Enugu, however, had last staged the 2022 edition just as Owerri, the Imo State capital hosted the first in 2021 while Uyo Township Stadium has been chosen as the venue for this year’s tourney which is set to run from August 29-September 3, 2023.
