The Senior Men Cricket national team of Nigeria, the Yellow Greens returned back to action on Sunday after observing a rest day on Saturday, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

Their return was marked with a hard fought and well deserved win over Tanzania. The East African country won the toss and elected to bat in the first innings of the game. They scored 139 runs for the loss of 7 wickets at the end of 20.0 overs, a score that meant Nigeria had to outscore them by at least one run in the second innings.

Nigeria knowing their target, unleashed Sulaimon Runsewe and Daniel Ajekun on the Tanzanians. Their pair garnered 17 runs before Daniel Ajekun was run out in the second over.

The Yellow Greens recorded a slow progress with the scores as they managed only 54 runs at the end of the tenth over, during which 4 wickets were already out. Things however became rosy from the 14th over where Proper Oseni and Sylvester Okpe partnered brilliantly to seal the game, scoring 39runs in the final overs.

At the end of the innings, the yellow Greens scored 140 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 18.4 overs, thus winning the game by 3 wickets.

Prosper Oseni was named player of the match after scoring 31 runs off 19 balls.

With this result, Nigeria now sit fourth on the standings with 2 points, having won one game and lost one, with the game against Rwanda still Abandoned and set to be rescheduled.

Nigeria will be back to action on Monday afternoon. They’ll face off against Uganda by 1:30 PM Nigerian time.
