Nigeria’s Young Sensation Ruled Out For 2022/23 Season

Akinkunmi Amoo will miss the rest of the 2022-23 campaign due to injury, Danish Premier League club FC Copenhagen has confirmed.

The Nigeria International youngster suffered a serious knee injury in a training match on Saturday against Silkeborg and will not be available for the remainder of the season.

A statement from the club’s website on Tuesday morning read;

“Akinkunmi Amoo, unfortunately, suffered a serious knee injury in Saturday’s training match against Silkeborg, and after scans and examinations, he has unfortunately been ruled out for the rest of the season.

“Amoo now has an operation, then rest and then a long rehabilitation before he can train with the team and play matches again.

“Altogether, that process will last 9-10 months,” says the chief physician at FCK, Morten Boesen.

“Everyone at FCK wishes Amoo a speedy recovery”, the club confirmed.

The 20-year-old midfielder made only two appearances for the Danish side in the 2022/2023 Superliga campaign.

The player joined the Danish Superliga club from Swedish outfit, Hammarby in January this year, penning a five-year contract with a record fee of around €4.4m.
