NPFL Super 6: Enyimba Defeats Lobi as Rivers and Remo Share Spoils in Dramatic Draw


Matchday Two of the Nigeria Premier Football League Super Six in Lagos provided spectators with thrilling encounters and showcased the competitive nature of Nigerian football. Enyimba, Rivers, and Bendel Insurance displayed their quality and determination, earning crucial points in their quest for glory.


A total of seven goals and one clean sheet was recorded.


Enyimba 1-0 Lobi Stars

Enyimba secured a hard-fought victory over Lobi in their second match of the NPFL Super Six tournament. The encounter was characterized by intense battles and relentless attacking from both sides. However, it was Emeka Obioma who emerged as the hero of the day, scoring a crucial header from six yards out to secure the lone goal of the match for Enyimba.

Lobi put up a commendable fight throughout the game, creating several scoring opportunities, but failed to convert them into goals. Enyimba’s defense stood firm and organized, denying Lobi any chance to equalize. The match showcased the resilience and determination of both teams, but it was Enyimba who ultimately emerged victorious, claiming three valuable points.


Rivers United 2-2 Remo Stars

The clash between the Pride of Rivers and the Sky Blue Stars proved to be an enthralling contest, filled with drama and late goals. The match started with both teams showcasing their attacking intent, creating numerous chances. Rivers took an early lead through a well-taken goal from Ebube Duru, putting Remo on the back foot. However, Remo Stars responded in the 72nd minute with an equalizer courtesy of Adedayo, turning the match into an intense battle.

As the game progressed, it seemed that Remo would secure a narrow victory, as Adedayo once again found the back of the net once again to take a 2-1 lead at the death of the game. But in a stunning turn of events, Stanley Eguma’s side managed to snatch a last-gasp equalizer deep into stoppage time. The match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, leaving both teams with a share of the spoils.


Bendel Insurance 1-1 Sunshine Stars
⚽ Divine Nwachukwu 7′ – Udom Ekerette 62′

It ended in a 1-1 draw as.thete was no vanquished or victor under the floodlights at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos. Right from the blast of the referee’s whistle, Bendel Insurance took control of the match, dictating the play and creating several scoring opportunities. Their relentless pressure paid off early as Divine Nwachukwu volley from outside the 18-yard-box beat Sunshine Stars goalkeeper leaving the Owena Waves struggling to find a response.

Edith Agoye’s team struggle paid off in the 62nd minute as a goalmouth scramble saw Udom Ekerette getting the needed equaliser for Sunshine Stars. Efforts by both sides to get a winner proved to be abortive.
