NPFL24: Goals galore as Rangers remain top with six games to go.

It was a festival of goals across different match venues in the Sunday fixtures of match day 32 of the Nigeria Premier Football League, as Rangers remain top of the log with six games to go in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Fans at the the Onikan Stadium, Lagos, and the Pantami Stadium, Gombe, were thrilled as both venues produced six and five goals respectively.

Remo Stars 3-0 Niger Tornadoes

Sikiru Alimi’s brace and Ahmed Akinyele’s 74th-minute goal took the Ikenna side to second place and a point behind Rangers who were to play on Sunday.

Bendel Insurance 1-0 Heartland FC

It was not a surprising result at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, as the Benin Arsenals defeated relegation-bound Heartland FC by 1-0. Ismael Sarki’s 83rd-minute strike was the decider.

Doma United 0-0 Kwara United

Both teams shared the spoils as they continued to dangle around the relegation zone, as they will be hoping to remain in the league at the end of the season. The goalless draw at Pantami Stadium made it two wins out of 15 matches Doma United have played since the start of 2024.

Akwa United 3-0 Kano Pillars

The fight to escape relegation continues for the Akwa-based side. Ubong Friday scored a brace while Mubarak Said scored the third in added time to give the host an emphatic victory.

Rangers 2-0 Plateau United

The Flying Antelopes continue to fly above other clubs in the NPFL after a two-nil victory over league contenders, Plateau United. Goals from Chiedozie Okorie 25′ and Godwin Obaje 90′, ensured the Rangers remaineat at the top of the table.

Enyimba 1-0 Katsina United

It was a hard-fought win for the defending champions with Chijioke Mbaoma’s 61st-minute strike from the spot deciding the game. The People’s Elephant goes back to second place with Remo dropping to third.

Gombe United 3-2 Lobi Stars

It was a five-goal thriller at the Pantami Township Stadium, which saw relegation-bound Gombe defeat title contenders, Lobi Stars. Lobi took the lead in the first minute from Stephen Emeji but a brace from Anayor Ogbonna and Emmanuel Michael’s goal ensured that the host got maximum points even after Stanley Oganbor scored for the visitors in added time.

Sporting Lagos 4-2 Abia Warriors

It was an intriguing fixture at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos as the fans watched a six-goal thriller. First-half goals from Pascal Durugbor and Junior Lokosa gave the host a two-nil lead at halftime. 13 minutes into the second half, the visitors leveled with goals from Sunday Megwo 48′ and Prince Okorie 58′. Three minutes later, the host restored their two-goal cushion through Jonathan Alukwu’s brace in the 61′ and 70th minutes.

3SC 2-0 Sunshine Stars

The South Western derby was a late kickoff which began at 5:30 pm at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan. It was a difficult match for both sides as goals from Taofeek Malomo and Christian Tyagbara gave the home side the maximum points. The victory takes Shooting Stars to fourth on the log with 52 points.

The last game of match day 32 will take place on Monday, April 29, 2024. Bayelsa United will be hosting Rivers United in a South-South derby.
