NPFL25: Enyimba return to winning ways, Rivers and Kanemi remain unbeaten

Enyimba defeated Ikorodu City to return to winning ways while Rivers United and El-Kanemi Warriors remains unbeaten this season.

Match day nine of the Nigeria Premier Football League, which took place from Saturday to Monday, witnessed one away win,three draws, six home wins and 21 goals recorded

Katsina United 1:1 Niger Tornadoes.

A 42nd minute strike from Papa Daniel gave the away side the lead into the break but the home side levelled after the break. Lukman Bello’s 54th minute goal ensured that both teams shared the spoils. The result keeps the home side a point above their counterpart on the log.

Bendel Insurance 0:1 Abia Warriors

It was a back to back defeat for the home side. The away side who came into this game without a goal against the Benin arsenals, broke the jinx and got the maximum points away from home. A 40th minute strike from in-form Sunday Megwo gave the Abia based side the maximum points.

Nasarawa United 1:0 Kano Pillars

The solid Miners got maximum points against the Sai Masu Gida boys in the Northern derby which took place at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday. Anas Yusuf made it his ninth goal of the season on the 41st minute to take the home side above the away side on the log.

Plateau United 3:0 Sunshine Stars

Plateau United keep the chase on the top three teams as they sit fourth on the log with 14points. Sadiq Abubakar’s brace and Vincent Temitope’s goal from the spot kick was enough to defeat Kennedy Boboye’s side.

Heartland 1:0 Remo Stars

Struggling Heartland defeated Remo Stars who remain second on the log by a goal to nil at the San Anyiam Stadium in Owerri. Peter Afolayan’s 72nd strike gave the home side the maximum points.

Enyimba 2:1 Ikorodu City.

Enyimba left it late to get all three points against in-form Oga boys at the Enyimba Stadium. The victory means the people’s elephant returns to winning ways after three games without a win. The away side thought they had stolen a point away from home after Toyeeb Ajeyigbe 88th minute goal levelled the score. Two minutes later, Moses Adukwu scored to the give the home side the win in a dramatic end.

Rivers United 1:1 El-Kanemi Warriors

Both teams came into this fixture as the only unbeaten teams in the NPFL this season and they left Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium unbeaten after a one all draw. Samaila Bello put the away side in front but Taofeek Otaniyi levelled two minutes after. The results keeps the home side top of the log with 21points.

3SC 2:1 Akwa United

Akwa United poor form continues after their defeat to Gbenga Ogunbote’s side at the Lekan Salami Stadium. Friday Apollos reduced the deficit on the 83rd minute after Monday Gideon and Joshua Akpan gave Shooting Stars the lead. The results keeps the away side bottom of the log with six points in nine matches.

Kwara United 1:1 Rangers

It was all square at full time in Ilorin as both teams scored at the stoke of half time. Kingsley Maduforo levelled the score for the Defending champions three minutes after Shola Abdulraheem had put the home side in the 42nd minute.

Lobi Stars 2:1 Bayelsa United

In a relegation battle fixture which took place at the Lafia City Stadium,saw Lobi Stars defeat their counterpart to go above them on the table. A brace from Ossy Martins gave the home side maximum points. The result means both sides remain in relegation zone after match day nine.
