NWFL Matchday 4 Wrap Up: Edo Queens, Rivers Angels win big as Bayelsa pips Delta

Matchday four of the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership wrapped up today with 14 goals scored in eight stadiums across the nation. Taiwo Adeyinka reviews the games on Platinumnewsng.com.

After a long struggle during the day, the games ended with the beating of drums in some states and tranquility in others as some teams were able to secure wins while others were not.

Heartland Queens vs Confluence Queens which started the Matchday 4 by 1 p.m. in Owerri at Dan Anyian Stadium ended goalless. Both teams remain unbeaten and leave the glory of a victor to none amongst themselves.

Adamawa Queens and Dannaz ladies faced each other in Gombe at the Pantanmi Stadium. 11 minutes into the game Mary Moses saw the back of the net placing Adamawa Queens on solid grounds. As a result, Adamawa Queens recorded their first win in the tournament.

Nasarawa Amazons and Abia Angels in Lafia was a goalless draw at the end of the game. The game was a complete deadlock.

Robo Queens hosted Remo Stars in Lagos at the Onikan Stadium. The Stadium’s atmospheric condition seemed to run at an unusual weather with the sun hot as the first half of the game was a goalless draw.
However, the temperature began to cool when with a wonderful cross from Shukurat Oladipupo, Ajakaye Opeyemi with a finishing header sent the ball into the net at 50 minutes into the game. As the jubilation was yet to cool off, Folashade Ijamilusi scored the second goal three minutes after the first.

However, Adoabi Okah kindled hope for the visiting team after a header ended in the back of the net at 81 minutes from a corner-kick. The match ended 2-1. Robo Queens won.

Edo Queens against Ekiti Queens in Benin ended 1-0 at the end of the first half. Glory Osaghe of the host team sent the ball into the net at 44 minutes. She did her best in her profession again as she scored the second goal five minutes after the first. Then she secured herself a hattrick when she scored the fourth goal of the match after Regina Omede in the 79th minute scored a goal for the visitor. Glory Osaghe scored her third goal in 82 minutes. The game ended with a great win for the Benin based Ladies.

Sunsets at Samson Siasia Stadium with Bayelsa Queens having a goal win against Delta Queens. After a long struggle of both teams, Chinyere Igboamalu broke the deadlock in the 78 minutes.

Royal Queens vs Naija Ratels ended 1-1. The teams went home with the same point.

River Angels vs Sunshine Queens ended 3 – 0 with River Angels winning with a high margin to seat second on the log in the NWFL Group B
