Oredo Games 5-Aside Football Championship gets kickoff date.

In continuation of its plan on reshaping sports in the state and setting the pace as the best local government with the best sporting structure and activities, the Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state has announced the kick-off date of the Oredo Games 5-Aside Football Championship. This is one of its annual sporting event known as ‘OredoGames 2024‘, platinumnewsng.com is reporting

The competition will see students from various schools in the local government take to battle for the coveted 5-Aside crown. The ultimate 5-Aside Football championship will kick off on May 2, 2024, and climaxes 13th, July 2024.

As part of its plans, the competition will take place in four centers. These are Uwa Primary School, Owegie Primary School, New Era College, and Anglican Girls Grammar School, Benin City.

The Executive Chairman of the local government, Tom Obaseki while addressing newsmen at the local government area Monday afternoon invited every resident of Oredo and its environs, to be part of the noble initiative. He tagged the competition ‘Catching them Young’.

The chairman also announced the Sports Commission, 70s Grill, and the Edo State Drivers Welfare Scheme as strategic partners. This will ensure the sustainability of the Initiative

Oredo Games, one-of-a-kind talent development sports initiative, the first by any Local Government in Nigeria will have in attendance international scout. This will ensure that outstanding talents are given international exposure.

Oredo Games Previous Event

OredoGames had earlier in the year witnessed another competition in boxing. The competition saw boys and girls categories where winners were handsomely rewarded. Precious Alile of Oredo Local Government Council, Chukwuka Emmanuel of Oredo all emerged champions at the boxing championship. Bathelomeu Chrisian of Oredo local government council also wrote his name in gold.

This kind of event and organization should be a core plan of local government areas in Nigeria. This will further enhance more identification of talents and proper nurturing for them to become future stars.
