… says it reminds him of his humble beginning
Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt.Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu was Tuesday conferred with the Pontifical Honourary Degree by the School of Faith and Leadership (Vatican Accredited Institute of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City).
The conferment took place at the 3rd convocation ceremony of the school in Benin City with the theme: ‘Using Education To Foster Advancement In Understanding Christian Theology And Psychology’.
In his acceptance speech, Shaibu expressed delight at the recognition, adding that the honour was a huge blessing to his existence.
In his words, “this is very dear to me because I have received many academic awards but not from my catholic church”.
“For me, I will forever cherish this and it will strengthen my faith in God”.
“I came from a humble background but my parents taught me the ways of God – the same thing I always advise parents to train their children in the ways of God – so they can become great leaders”.
“I’m happy for the School of Faith and Leadership for their achievements these past years and their efforts, towards building people’s spiritual life”.
“It’s a call to service; to continue to do the will of God. I can sacrifice everything to do the will of God because we are mere mortals and nothing is too big to do for God”.
“The award reminds me of my good old days when I was a manservant growing up in Kaduna. It also reminds me of the teachings. So, as an adult now, this award also reminds me of where I’m coming from, to consolidate that faith in God and do His will”.
“As a Christian, I have no regrets but testimonies of miracles. My life is a life of grace and testimonies. This is made possible because of my faith in catholicism and God”.
“I thank the Institute for this Honourary Award of Faith in Education”.
The highlight of the ceremony which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life was a citation on the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu and the official conferment of the Honourary Award on him by the Archbishop of the Benin Metropolitan See, Most Rev. Dr. Augustine Obiora Akubeze amidst pomp and celebration.
