The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has approved the nomination of Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu and six others to serve on the Screening Committee saddles with the responsibility of screening the Bayelsa State Governorship Aspirants for the Party’s Primary Election, for the upcoming 2023 Gubernatorial Elections.
Comrade Shaibu is appointed to serve in the committee as the Chairman and SS Zonal Secretary, and Chief Felix Omemu as the committee’s Secretary.

Other members are Professor Aisha Madawaki, Hon. Sunday Katung, Mrs. Hassana Abubakar, and Barr. Yakubu Hassan and Otunba Malomo Adelabi.
According to the memo signed by the National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar Bature, the exercise is scheduled to hold on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the National Working Council Hall, PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, at 3 pm.

The primaries are scheduled for between 27 March and 17 April 2022.
The 2023 Bayelsa State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 November 2023, elect the Governor of Bayelsa State. Incumbent PDP Governor Douye Diri is running for re-election.
