Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, has charged beauty pageant contestants and queens to be role models to society, particularly the girl-child.
The Deputy Governor gave the admonition Thursday when he received over 20 contestants of the Miss Corporate Nigeria Pageant, during a courtesy visit in Benin City.He said the presence of the contestants in Edo was a positive testimony and endorsement of the State as a peaceful and tourist haven while pledging his support for beauty pageantry.

In his remarks, the pageant organizer, Mr. Jasper Salami, appreciated the Deputy Governor for being a good ambassador of the youth.
He showered encomiums on Shaibu for his consistent support and empowerment of the youth population in society, while soliciting his assistance to make the beauty pageant a reality.
