…says showcasing their God-given talents key to self-actualization

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, has admonished Nigerian youths to be productive by showcasing their God-given talents as a recipe for self-actualization.

Shaibu gave the charge Tuesday when he spoke at the closing ceremony of the Law Students Association of Nigeria, LAWSA Week, University of Benin chapter, which climaxed with a football match and funfair.

The sports-loving Deputy Governor was represented at the event by Yussuf Alli, Chairman Edo State Sports Commission.

Shaibu commended LAWSA for the success of the week and the priority accorded sports in their program of events.

According to him: “sports is a great tool to open the minds of students, especially those studying professional courses like law”. He affirmed that regular participation in sports broadens the mind and the thinking of the students.

The Edo number two citizen urged the students to be productive in their engagements to excel academically and in sports activities.

Shaibu noted that the hallmark of any game was being sportsmanlike and fairness in participation while preaching against vices such as the use of illicit drugs and the syndrome of winning by hook or crook.

He tasked the students to continue to push and play their expected roles in nation-building as well as participate actively in choosing credible persons for leadership positions at every given opportunity.

Aihie Omoregieva Ronnie scored the only winning goal of the final match, to secure victory for the 300-level Law Students over their 500-level opponents, to emerge 2023 champions.
