…enjoins faithful to pray for a better Nigeria
As the Muslim faithful in Nigeria joins their counterparts around the world in celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir, Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, has congratulated Muslims in the State for their abiding trust and love for Allah.
In his Eid-el-Kabir message, personally signed by him, the Deputy Governor stated:
“I am profoundly delighted to congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria, particularly Edo State as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festivities”.
“Permit me to say that your abiding trust and love for Allah have been proof of your belief as adherents of the Muslim faith”.
The Edo State number two citizen admonished Muslims not to be carried away with the celebrations of the season but to reflect on the trajectory of the Nigerian nation.
“My dear brothers and sisters, our dear country, Nigeria is passing through some very difficult challenges. The removal of fuel subsidy, coupled with the level of insecurity and other social vices – have all combined to make life very tough for us as a people”.
“Therefore, let me enjoin you to have sober reflections on the reality of our current situation and seek the face of Almighty Allah to overcome our common challenges”.
Shaibu also encouraged the Muslim Ummah to pray for leaders in positions of authority at the local, state and national levels, adding that good leadership breeds good followership.
“The good book tells us that when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. All Nigerians, irrespective of tongue, tribe or religion must endeavour to pray for our leaders – in politics, business, religious circle – including traditional fathers for the actualization of Nigeria of our collective dreams”.
The Deputy Governor advised all Muslims to continue to be law-abiding, tolerate one another and be peaceful in their activities.
“As you celebrate, remember that we can only build a progressive society for the good of the majority in an atmosphere of peace, unity and obedience to the laws of the land”.
“Once again, l congratulate you all and wish you happy Eid-el-Kabir celebrations”, Shaibu added.
