The August 26th instalment of Friday Night SmackDown was Live from The Little Caesers Arena in Detriot, Michigan and was the penultimate episode of SmackDown before the Clash at The Castle pay-per-view.
Ricochet Vs Happy Corbin
Ricochet Defeated Happy Corbin by Pinfall after delivering a Shooting star press from the top rope.
After the Match, Pat McAfee Mocked Happy Corbin from Commentary.
MY TAKE
A very good match to kick start Smackdown, But the downward trajectory of Corbin continues and I don’t think he would be “Happy”. We know the talent of Corbin but this can go two ways either this is just a way to build him in returning to his form character as the Lone Wolf or it can lead to him being Released although the latter looks unlikely seeing Corbin is a very good heel in the WWE. Pat McAfee making fun of Corbin post-match was Gold though.
A Video Package was shown about the journey of Drew McIntyre from starting in the UK to coming to America.
Karrion Kross with Scarlett Delivered a segment in which he said he was coming for Drew McIntyre
Xia Li and Shotzi Vs Dana Brooke and Tamina Vs Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H Vs Natayla And Sonya Deville

MY TAKE
In an extremely short match, WWE should do better in giving the women’s division more TV time.
Sheamus, Butch and Ridge Holland (The Brawling Brutes) came into the ring, Sheamus said he was going to defeat Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship In Cardiff, Wales and become an ultimate grand Slam champion in WWE.
Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser then Interrupted by coming into the ring. Sheamus said he’s the real ring general and listed the top Superstars he has defeated. He said it’s been a long time since he has seen someone as brutal as Gunther and he reminds him of himself but Gunther has what he wanted… The Intercontinental Championship. Gunther then said Sheamus was nothing like him and at Clash at The Castle, he could break Sheamus’s body. Butch, Ludwig Kaiser and Ridge Holland then got into a Brawl without Sheamus and Gunther not taking their eyes off each other before Gunther and Ludwig Kaiser exit the ring.
Sami Zayn backstage knocked at the door of Roman Reigns but out came the Usos as Sami Zayn told the Usos he wanted to see The Tribal Chief bond as he helped Roman last week. Roman Reigns then invited Sami Zayn into his Locker room and said Sami Zayn lost last week but bad things happen. He then said he saw Sami Zayn as Family and he wants Sami Zayn Zayn to distract Drew McIntyre during their main event match with Saying Zayn saying he’s got it.
Raquel Rodriguez and Aaliyah Vs Natayla and Sonya Deville: Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament Semi-Final Match.
Raquel Rodriguez and Aaliyah defeated Sonya Deville and Natayla to progress to the finals of the Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament.
After the Match Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai came into the ring for a Face with Raquel Rodriguez and Aaliyah
MY TAKE
Good for Raquel Rodriguez and Aaliyah but they have been Underwhelming as a team in this tournament which is understandable seeing they are a makeshift team and will have to do in other to defeat Iyo Sky and Dakota Sky of Damage Control in the Finals to Crown the New Women’s Tag Team Championship on Raw Next week.
Maximum Male Models directed by Max Dupri were having a photoshoot but were Interrupted by the theme song of Hit Row being played in a bus which upset Max Dupri Maxxine Dupri said she had an idea to stop the distraction but was then Interrupted by Los Lotharios. The Hit Row then said they would want to settle their beef with Maximum Male Models in the Ring next week and said that was not even their bus as the Street Profits came out and revealed themselves as the Bus owners.
The New Day were in the Ring with Xavier Woods in a Wheelchair. Woods thanked the fans and said they have made fun of The Viking Raiders and underestimated them. Kofi Kingston then said they have taken a beating from Viking Raiders for weeks. Xavier Woods then said they saw the New Day Funeral by the Viking Raiders last week with them burning some of New Day’s materials and Merchandise.
Viking Raiders then Interrupted and said they gave the New Day a proper Warrior’s send-off but have refused to stay down. The Vikings then came into the Ring to attack The New Day but were taken out by candlesticks shots from the New Day with Xavier Woods throwing the Wheelchair outside the Ring as the Viking Raiders retreated.

Drew McIntyre defeated Sami Zayn with a Pin after a Claymore Kick
After the match Roman Reigns attack Drew McIntyre. Drew Tried to Fight back but was overpowered and Beaten Down by Roman Reigns, the Usos and Sami Zayn as Roman Reigns sat down on a Chair over McIntyre’s body while holding his title to close out SmackDown.
MY TAKE
This was a good match between Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre but the result was expected for McIntyre to build momentum ahead of Next Weekend’s big pay-per-view in The United Kingdom. Roman Reigns also getting the better of Drew McIntyre after the attack last week from McIntyre. All in all, it was a decent episode of SmackDown.
