Super Falcons Feast on Lions in World Cup Preparatory Match.

In preparation for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the Super Falcons of Nigeria seems to be more ready than ever after the team delivered a resounding morale-boosting triumph with a commanding 8-1 victory over Australian club, Lions FC in a friendly match held in Gold Coast.

The Nine-time African Champions showcased their formidable skills and determination, leaving the opposition struggling to keep up with their relentless attacks. The goals came in quick succession, with the Nigerian players capitalizing on their opportunities.

Leading the charge was star striker Asisat Oshoala, who exhibited her scoring prowess by netting two goals, leaving the Lions FC defence helpless. Joining the goal-scoring frenzy were Ifeoma Onumonu, Toni Payne, Rasheedat Ajibade, Halimatu Ayinde, Uchenna Kanu, and Gift Monday, each adding their names to the score sheet.

The match served as a valuable opportunity for Coach Randy Waldrum’s tutored team to fine-tune their strategies and test their mettle against international competition. Their dominant performance not only bolstered team morale but also quell doubts on their capability to deliver exceptional results at the FIFA Women’s World Cup which is five days away.

Nigeria is grouped alongside host nation Australia, Olympic Champions Canada and the Republic of Ireland.
