The Nigerian men national cricket team, the yellow greens will on Sunday afternoon tackle Rwanda in the finals of the West Africa Trophy Cricket Tournament hosted by Nigeria at the Tafawa Balewa Square(TBS) Cricket Oval, Lagos, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.
The Yellow Greens who won all the nine games in the Round robin stage which served as the qualifiers for the finals, set up a tie against long time rivals and East Africans, Rwanda on Saturday even after defeating team on saturday morning in their last game of the round robin stage.
Rwanda on their part managed to qualify as second best team after the first stage of the tournament, slightly edging over Ghana who had same number of wins(4). Rwanda made it to the final having secured superior Net Run Rate (NRR).
In yesterday’s game, Nigeria defeated Rwanda massively. They won by 8 wickets, after restricting their opponents who batted first to just 24 runs at all out after just 6.1 overs in the first innings. Nigeria subsequently surpassed their slim target of 25 runs after same number of overs and surrendering 2 wickets.
With the outcome of Saturday’s game, the odds appear highly in favour of the yellow greens in Sunday’s Final, except Rwanda will approach the game with a different game plan and strategy.
Sunday’s third place match between Ghana and sierre Leone will come up first at 10 a.m. while Nigeria vs Rwanda will be at 2:15 p.m. Nigerian time.
