Watford FC has officially announced the departure of goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, who has secured a permanent move to Italian Serie A side Udinese.
The 23-year-old Nigerian, who initially joined Watford in January 2022, became a part of the squad for the 2022/23 season.
Okoye, a senior international for Nigeria, made two appearances for Watford during the previous season. He was included in the starting lineup for separate matches in the Carabao Cup and Emirates FA Cup.
The goalkeeper’s football journey has seen him traverse various clubs. Having spent time in the youth setups of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, and Fortuna Düsseldorf, Okoye then moved to Sparta Rotterdam in the summer of 2020.
His two-season stint in the Dutch Eredivisie was followed by a return to Rotterdam on loan for the second half of the 2021/22 season, after agreeing to permanent terms with Watford.
The move to Udinese marks another chapter in Okoye’s career, as he ventures into the competitive realm of Italian football.
