Edo Queens Football Club of Benin City on Tuesday afternoon advanced to the final of the 2023 edition of the Sheroes Pre-season tournament after claiming their third consecutive win in the tournament when they defeated Honey Badgers ladies of Makurdi 4-0.
Edo Queens endured a barren first half as their opponents defended well to avoid conceding in the first 45 minutes of the game.
However, two goals from Kafayat Mafisere earlier in the second half were enough to shatter the morale of the Honey Badgers ladies, before Esther Moses and Efe Osakpolor each scored a goal to extend the lead, putting the game beyond reach for the Makurdi-based Badgers.
This result means Edo Queens have accumulated 9 maximum points from their last three games, having already defeated Ekiti Queens and Dannaz ladies in their previous games.
With this result, the Queens who have so far scored 13 goals from three matches now have their eyes set on winning the trophy for the first time, and have missed winning the last two editions.
Edo Queens will face off against Sunshine Queens of Akure by 8 a.m. on Wednesday in their fourth group game.
