NWFL24: Edo Queens ends 2023 with win over Delta Queens

Esther Moses said no to a goalless draw as her 61st-minute strike was enough to give Edo Queens maximum points against Delta Queens in the Bendel Derby at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in matchday six of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The last game of 2023 for Edo Queens saw multiple chances from the Benin-based Ladies who struggled to score against a defensive resolute Delta Queens.

Delta Queens coached by Tosan Blankson, although not on the touchline, came into the game with a defensive game plan, hoping to hit Edo Queens on the counter. However, the defensive pairing of Valentina Uroko and Sunday Blessing was too tight for Delta Queens striker Chinanza Agoh to break through.

The deciding goal came in the 61st minute as a through pass from Kafayat Mafisere found Esther Moses, unmarked in a prime position. Esther did not fail to score this time as she finished beautifully with a powerful shot to beat Mgbechi.

Edo Queens will play Bayelsa Queens away from home in Yenagoa on the 10th of January, 2024.
