Ademola Lookman scores for Atalanta in his last club game before AFCON

Super Eagles Forward, Ademola Lookman scored the only goal for Atalanta on Saturday to grab maximum points for his team against Lecce in his last action for them before jetting off to the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The Atalanta’s top scorer this season broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when he dazzled past his marker to fire from the edge of the penalty area into the bottom left corner of Lecce’s goal, after receiving a pass from Gianluca Scamacca.

The goal is the 7th goal for the 26-year-old in the Seria A this season and his 9th altogether this season, having scored twice in the Coppa Italia. Lookman was subsequently named man of the match.

The victory takes Atalanta to 7th position on the Seria A standings with 29 points, a point above Champions, Napoli who are 8th on the log.

Ademola Lookman is expected to join up with the rest of the Super Eagles players in camp in preparation for AFCON 2023, as camp opens up on the 1st of January.

The three-time African champions will camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the competition. They will also engage in a three-nation tournament in Abu Dhabi.

The Super Eagles are drawn in Group A with hosts Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau. Jose Peseiro’s side will open their campaign at the AFCON 2023 finals against Equatorial Guinea on January 14.
