This week was filled with boxing shockers, football stunning wins, and upsets down to racing thrillers.

Manchester City was on the verge of a first home Premier League defeat since November 2022 until John Stones, who was brought in to replace Rodri, salvaged the situation as he brought City level with Arsenal 2-2. Erling Haaland put his side in front with his 100th goal before Calafiori and Gabriel Jesus hit back two goals, and then John Stones’ dramatic equaliser.

In the Caf Champions League, Rangers International, despite beating their opponents Sagrada Esperanca by a lone goal in the first leg in Uyo, failed to make it to the group stage as they lost on aggregate 3-2. Rangers suffered a 3-1 defeat to Sagrada Esperanca, crashing out of the CAF Champions League. On the other hand, Enyimba advanced to the Caf Confederation Cup group stage after a goalless draw and winning 3-2 on penalty against Etoile Filante.

During the week, the world football governing body FIFA released the rankings with the Super Eagles of Nigeria, making little or no progress despite the points amassed from the 2025 Afcon qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda. The 8th edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, came to a conclusion with team Delta crowned champions for the second consecutive time. The host won 46 gold, 31 silver, and 34 bronze, taking home a total of 111 medals. Team Lagos followed with 26 gold, 20 silver, and 19 bronze, while team Edo came third with 18 golds, 13 silver, and 28 bronze.

Meanwhile, in MotoGP, Italy’s Estea Bastianini won his home race as he claimed victory in the Italian GP. It’s Bastianini’s second win of the year, having also won at the British GP. However, defending champion Francesco Bagnaia crashed out with seven laps remaining in the race, while Marc Marquez finished third and lost further grounds in his quest for a seventh title.
