While many are chained in fear back home, a single man of purpose was far away in the Egyptian winter cold making history — it was a historic night as Nigerian tactician, Aliyu Zubair, made history, masterminding Telecom SC‘s march to the Egyptian Cup quarter-finals

In just three months as the Manager of Telecom SC in Egypt, Aliyu Zubair has achieved a remarkable feat, guiding the team to their inaugural quarter-final appearance in the Egyptian Cup following a 2–1 win over Pharco on Tuesday during the round of 16.
This victory follows another significant achievement for Telecom, who previously eliminated Egyptian powerhouses Al Ahly in the round of 32 — a result that sent ripples through Egyptian football, highlighting Zubair’s immediate influence since taking over and enhancing his reputation as one of Africa’s most insightful young coaches.

In a short span, the former Elkanemi Warriors coach has reshaped Telecom into a bold and well-structured team capable of competing against — and overcoming — the top teams in Egypt.
The soft-spoken coach also holds the position of Head Coach for Nigeria’s Flying Eagles, where he is highly regarded for his talent in developing young players and fostering tactical awareness, discipline, and a winning mindset.
