Officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission on Monday received a delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Lagos as part of an inspection visit ahead of the 2026 CAF Awards, Platinum News is reporting.

The CAF delegation toured the proposed venue — The National Art Theatre — for the prestigious continental awards ceremony, with officials of the Lagos State Sports Commission guiding them through the facilities while gathering feedback to ensure the event meets the required standards.
According to a statement by the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwoolu, preparations are progressing steadily, with attention being paid to every aspect of the hosting arrangements to deliver a world-class event.

The governor noted that staging an event of the CAF Awards’ magnitude requires meticulous planning and execution, adding that the Commission’s team is working behind the scenes to ensure Lagos delivers a memorable experience for African football stakeholders.

Lagos State reaffirmed its readiness to host the 2026 CAF Awards, expressing confidence in showcasing the city as a premier destination for major sporting events on the continent.
