Al Hilal Petition CAF Over Berkane Player Eligibility Row

Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman have officially submitted a complaint to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over the participation of RS Berkane player Hamza El Moussaoui, allegedly ineligible in their recent match.

El Moussaoui had previously failed a doping test and was handed a 30-day suspension. CAF reportedly confirmed the suspension just two days before the match involving Moroccan side RS Berkane and Al Hilal.

However, in a surprising turn of events, the suspension was lifted on the day of the match, allowing the player to feature in the game. El Moussaoui went on to play a decisive role in the encounter, winning the penalty that led to RS Berkane’s equaliser.

Al Hilal are now arguing that the player was not eligible to participate in the match and have submitted what they describe as full evidence to CAF to support their case.

A hearing has been scheduled for tomorrow, with CAF now under pressure to clarify why the suspension was lifted on match day and to make a ruling on the protest that could potentially affect the match outcome.
