Super Eagles of Nigeria and former Crawley Town Football Club rock-solid centre-back, Benjamin Tanimu, has terminated his contract with Moroccan top-flight side Maghreb de Fès after a difficult and frustrating eight-month stay at the club, Platinum News is reporting.
Ayoola Adeleke, the media representative of the player on his official Twitter handle revealed that the defender endured a toxic atmosphere during his time in Morocco, facing repeated ridicule and an unfavourable environment that ultimately forced his decision to walk away from the Botola Pro side.
Tanimu joined Maghreb Fès in July 2025 from the English side Crawley Town FC on a three-year deal after leaving the League One club at the end of the 2024/2025 season.

Before his move to Morocco, the Benin City-born defender featured for Crawley Town, where he made 10 appearances across all competitions after arriving from Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars Football Club.
Tanimu began his professional career with Bendel Insurance Football Club where he spent several years developing into one of the Nigeria Premier Football League’s most dependable defenders. During his time with the Benin Arsenal, he helped the club win the Nigeria National League title in 2022, the Federation Cup in 2023 and set a season unbeaten run of 21 games in the league.
His impressive performances for Bendel Insurance earned him a move to Tanzania with Singida Black Stars in early 2024, where he made 11 league appearances before securing a transfer to England with Crawley Town later that year.

On the international scene, Tanimu has earned three caps for the Nigeria national football team since making his debut against the Ghana national football team in March 2024 under former Super Eagles coach Finidi George.
The versatile defender, known for his composure, strength, vision, aerial dominance and ability to play both as a centre-back and right-back, has now left Morocco and is expected to announce his next club in the coming days as he seeks a fresh start away from the difficult experience in North Africa.
