BCYL: Dynamo Extends Lead as BJ FC Win Shakes Up Title Race

The 2026 Benin City Youth League title race took another dramatic twist after an action-packed Matchweek Nine delivered crucial victories, drama, and changes across the log.

Dynamo Academica tightened its grip on first place with another disciplined display. At the same time, BJ Foundation FC sent a strong warning to the rest of the league with an emphatic victory over fellow title contenders Victoria FA.

The headline result of Game Day One came as BJ Foundation FC defeated Victoria FA 3-1 in one of the biggest fixtures of the week. The victory not only dampened Victoria’s recent poor run of form but also pushed BJ Foundation to 21 points, keeping them firmly in the title conversation and preserving their unbeaten run after nine matches.

The result leaves Victoria FA in fourth place on 18 points, now six behind leaders Dynamo Academica.

League leaders Dynamo Academica continued their impressive campaign with a narrow but vital 1-0 win over Genesis FC on Wednesday. It was another mature performance from the table toppers, who now boast eight wins from nine matches and an impressive 24 points.

With just three goals conceded all season, Dynamo remain the team to beat heading into the next round of fixtures.

Rolly FC maintained third position after edging Westgate FC 2-1 in a tightly contested encounter. The win takes Rolly to 19 points, ensuring the top three remain fiercely competitive as the season enters a decisive stage.

Benin Warriors produced one of the most entertaining performances of the week with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Alhaji FC. The result keeps them fifth on the table with 16 points, level with Living Voice FC but ahead on goal difference.

Living Voice FC missed the chance to move higher up the standings after being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by struggling United Sparrows.

Ine Stars, however, secured a valuable 1-0 victory over Namo Sports to move up to 14 points and strengthen their push toward the top half.

Etto FC and Eagle Wings settled for a 1-1 draw in a balanced contest that leaves both sides still searching for consistency.

Okuta FC and Rangers Dynamite also shared the spoils in a dramatic 2-2 encounter. While the point offers slight encouragement for Rangers Dynamite, they remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just four points from nine games.

After nine games, the title race is beginning to separate into clear contenders.

Dynamo Academica sits top with 24 points, three points ahead of BJ Foundation FC who occupies the second position on 21 points. Coming closely is Rolly FC who have amassed 19 points to push for a title fight, and keenly closed up by Victoria FA on 18 points to make the top four a very tight race leaving no room for any slip.

At the other end, Westgate FC, United Sparrows, and Rangers Dynamite remain deep in relegation trouble as the pressure continues to mount.

Match day 10 looks more promising for teams and a lot of shifts are expected at the end. The league no doubt has lived up to its billing and surpassed what it gave to fans last season.
