…restates the government’s commitment to advancing quality education
Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has commended the management and staff of the state-owned university, Uzairue for sustaining the visionary ideals of its founders in the delivery of academic excellence.
The Governor spoke through his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu during the 9th Founder’s Day of the ivory tower, which was held at the university’s main auditorium.
Shaibu was represented at the event by the Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor, Hon. lmonofi lnusa.
Obaseki lauded the foresight and leadership qualities of management as well as the professional competency of staff for producing world-class graduates who can compete globally with their peers since inception, nine years ago.
Obaseki noted: “I am profoundly delighted to be a part of this great event marking the Founder’s Day of one of Nigeria’s foremost ivory towers, renowned for its academic excellence.”
“Permit me to place on record that this famous citadel of learning has grown in leaps and bounds since it was established in 2014.”
“No doubt, this University has been on steady growth and development – in terms of professional manpower and infrastructural renewal – over the past 9 years. We are proud of you”.
“As a Government, the present administration has been consistent in meeting its obligations, charting a progressive course for its sustainability”.
“This University ranks amongst one of the best tertiary institutions in Nigeria and indeed, on the African continent. I am aware that it has won many awards, recognitions and accolades on account of the innovative and creative programs and policies put in place by the management of the university.”
Obaseki, however, urged the university not to relent in its pursuit of greater heights in the academic world.
“May l use this singular opportunity to impress it upon management, staff and students to continue to sustain the pride and honour that has brought fame and dignity to the university”.
The Governor reassured the institution of government’s continuous partnership and support to keep it at the top, where it rightly belongs.
“It is instructive to underscore that the Edo State Government under my leadership will not relent in strengthening the strategic partnership with management to take the university to the next level of academic excellence in the comity of universities in Nigeria and beyond.”
The glamorous ceremony attracted dignitaries from all walks of life, including members of the academia.
