Mauritania Football Federation has decided to void its participation at the ongoing 2022 WAFU Zone A U-15 Boys Championship currently taking place in Liberia.

The football federation solely stated the decision was taken based on suspected age cheating by some countries participating in the football tournament after Mauritania lost their first match 6-0 to Sierra Leone on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville, Liberia.

In a press release obtained by platinumnewsng.com, the Mauritania Football Federation alleged that they have proven evidence that some players of the Sierra Leone U-15 team are above the age of 15.

Going forward, the Federation had pulled out of the tournament in fear of the safety and health of their players.

It remains uncertain if WAFU will set up an investigation team into the matter. Meanwhile, Sierra Leone on the other hand will be facing Senegal tomorrow after Senegal played a three-all draw with the host Liberia.
