4-Time Afrobasket Champions Touch Down Abuja

Nigeria’s D’Tigress, four-time FIBA Women’s Afrobasket champions, have returned triumphant from the 2023 Afrobasket Tournament in Kigali, Rwanda.

The team arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, welcomed by officials from the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, led by Dr. Simon Ebhojiaye.

Having dominated all their matches, D’Tigress secured a spot in the final and went on to defeat the Lioness of Senegal, earning the winner’s title at the GK Arena in Kigali.

A celebration awaited the victorious Rena Wakama-led team as they were hosted to a delightful reception by the Ministry in the evening. The team’s exceptional performance has brought pride and joy to the nation, showcasing their remarkable talent and dedication to the sport.
