Oparanozie reminiscent of a remarkable football career

Desire Oparanozie, a former Super Falcons striker, has reflected on her successful football career, with revelations about the good and sour memories during her active days.

The 29-year-old who recently announced her retirement from football stated that winning trophies and scoring in finals of tournaments were some of the best moments of her career.

“Well, I’ve had a couple of best moments. There are a lot of them, winning trophies, scoring at the finals, scoring the most important goal at the finals, those were amazing best moments for me.

“And the worst is usually injuries, when you are on the field running and you have a muscle tear, when you’re injured watching from the stands, those were my worst moments,” Oparanozie told Supersport.

The ex-Nigeria international had played for Bayelsa Queens, Delta Queens, Rossiyanka, Wolfsburg, Guingamp, Dijon, and Wuhan Jianghan University amongst others, recorded a tally of 22 goals in 35 Super Falcons appearances, won four WAFCON titles in 2010, 2014, 2016 and 2018, and also participated four times at the FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments of 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023.
