Akintola, Uzodinma Earn Delight FC Win in Edo Elite Super League

Dennis Akintola and Praise Uzodinma were on top of their games as Delight Football Club continue it’s beautiful run in the early stages with another comprehensive 2-0 win and clean sheet in Match Week 2 of the Edo Elite Super League, Platinum News is reporting.

Delight FC showed resilience from the blast of the whistle with intentional play around the field, while Braveheart also took the game to them without relenting in what was an end-to-end start of the game.

Braveheart had a chance at opening the scoring but saw their effort go agonisingly wasted. Delight FC, in return, earned a promising opportunity to take the lead; their free kick from a promising angle, however, went inches off the goal after clinically beating the wall and goalkeeper.

The first half ended with no breakthrough despite loads of promising chances; the Bravehearts goalkeeper gave it a good half of plausible performance.

Delight FC picked it up from where they left it in the first half with more attacks on the defence line of Bravehearts.

10 minutes into the second half, the coaches continued their tactical input from the technical bench with substitutions to get the goal.

Five minutes after the hour mark, the wait was over as Delight’s tactical change produced a goal in no time — Dennis Akintola composed himself to connect well with Osabigi Otkaponmwenhi’s pass, made a clinical effort to turn the ball into a goal for his side —his second goal for the season.

With a goal scored, Braveheart threw in all they had, but their front line failed them more. Delight FC, becoming more aware of what a security goal would do for them, added the second. Dominic Anthony became the provider for Praise Uzodinma to turn in the second for the day in the 70th minute.

Further effort by Braveheart proved abortive —thanks to the resolute backline to ward off all attacking threats.

With the win, Delight FC sits joint-top of the table with 6 points after two games, but two goals less than Light FC.
