Bendel Insurance gets tough Opening fixture as Clubs Await Kick-off





The Benin Arsenal will begin the 2023/24 season with a clash against defending champions Enyimba away from home in matchday one of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

The draws were conducted as the league held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Abuja on Tuesday, August 29, where the 20 participating clubs for the upcoming 2023/24 league season were drawn.

The ceremony which was graced by NPFL Chairman, Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye, took the opportunity to emphasize the league’s new broadcasting direction.

Elegbeleye expressed his delight in reiterating the significant Broadcast Streaming deal with Propel Sports Africa. As part of this innovative deal, 10 venues have already been equipped with cameras to capture the action as it unfolds on the field of play. Notably, clubs will not be allowed to stream their games individually again…

One of the main highlights of the AGM was the NPFL draw for the upcoming season. Matchday 1 fixtures have been officially released, setting the stage for an exciting start to the league which begins September 9. The matchups are as follows:

– Sporting Lagos vs Gombe United
– Bayelsa United vs. Akwa United
– Shooting Stars vs. Plateau United
– Abia Warriors vs Niger Tornadoes
– Enyimba Int’l vs. Bendel Insurance
– Rivers United vs. Remo Stars
– Katsina United vs. Kwara United
– Sunshine Stars vs. Kano Pillars
– Heartland FC vs. Lobi Stars
– Rangers vs. Doma United
