…as Nigerian Chef, Hilda Baci Breaks Guinness World Cooking Record

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has congratulated the current world cooking record holder, Chef Hilda Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci.

Chef Bacci, 27, is an Akwa Ibom – born (Nigerian), who made the historic feat on Monday, after breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual.

As of 3 pm on Monday, Baci has cooked for over 95 hours to surpass the previous record set by an Indian Chef, Lata Tondon in 2019. The previous title-holder cooked for 87 hours, 45 minutes and 00 seconds.

Chef Baci started her marathon cooking challenge on May 11 at the Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.

Chef Baci will keep cooking to extend the record. Her desire to make history has attracted so much support and commendation from Nigerians.

Many dignitaries, including the President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu; former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor and Presidential Candidate of Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi; Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) and Prince Dapo Abiodun (Ogun) have shown support for Baci’s quest while applauding her resilience and grit.

According to the Deputy Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Comrade Ebomhiana Musa, Shaibu saluted Chef Baci for making Nigeria and the female gender proud with her cooking talent. He noted that it will be a thing of joy if Chef Baci sets a record that will remain unbroken for decades.

“I celebrate Chef Hilda Baci for breaking and setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time in the world”.

“Bacci has made Nigeria and indeed, Nigerians, especially the female gender proud by proving to us that Nigeria has
untapped talents to set world records”, Shaibu added.
