Week three of the Edo Elite Super League comes to life Friday, July 24, as eight teams go to battle to continue the exposure meant for their players, beyond winning and contesting the title, PlatinumNews is reporting.
Opening the week three fixtures is Westgate Football Club versus Light Football Club. Westgate, sitting bottom of the league after two defeats, will look to come to life in the league against Light FC, who recovered from their 2-0 defeat to Konatandz Dike FC to record a 3-0 victory over Shavik FC.
Both sides are expected to give their all, especially Westgate, but their forwards must be fleet-footed, and their defence line must be alert if securing a win is anything to go by. A win for Light FC could see them go top two depending on the outcome of other games in the league.
St Andrew Football Club will have their work cut out for them when they host the league leaders in what could be a table-changing match for the two sides. A win for St Andrew Foundation will see them occupy third position and drop Konatandz Dike to second place, should Delight secure a win over Shavik FC.
Braveheart FC has been a decent side of young kids who have stood up to the big teams so far this season. Securing an important draw against Shavik FC gave them the “believe” mindset, but they had a setback against Delight FC, losing 2-0. Rising Stars also played out a goalless draw against St Andrews and will look to put the disappointing result behind them.
The last match of the day will see Shavik FC take on another side with a perfect record in the league so far, Delight FC. A disappointing start to the season, with a 0-0 draw against Braveheart and a 3-0 shocking defeat at the hands of Light FC, has left them in an uncomfortable position, and they will be throwing all they have against Delight in the game to bounce back to a respectable position.
Delight FC will count on their attacking force to continue their good run of form. Expected to lead the attacking force for the week are in-form striker Akintola Dennis, who has two goals in two games and Praise Uzodinma, who has a goal to his name. Dominic Anthony will once again be watched out for with his dynamism in the midfield and ability to leave markers motionless when on the ball.
All roads lead to the NIPOST field in Egor, where football scouts from clubs in the NPFL will be present to watch the young talents exhibit their talents.
