EESL WEEK 3: Delight FC Stay Perfect as League Takes Shape

The race for the inaugural Edo Elite Super League title is beginning to take shape after an entertaining Week Three, with Delight Football Club maintaining their perfect start to the season while the chasing pack continues to jostle for position.

Delight FC Stays Perfect
Delight FC remain the team to beat after edging Shavik FC 1-0, courtesy of an early strike from Efe Omoregbe in the 5th minute. The win keeps Delight on a flawless nine points from three matches, the league’s only side with a 100 percent record.

Even more striking is their defensive solidity. Delight are yet to concede a goal all season, with five scored and none conceded — the best goal difference in the league at +5.

Biggest Result of the Week
The standout result of the round came as St. Andrew Foundation stunned second-placed Konstanz Dike Foundation with a convincing 2-0 victory.

Izu Obiakor opened the scoring in the 34th minute before a second goal in the 77th minute sealed the win. The result lifted St. Andrew into fifth place and handed Konstanz Dike their first defeat of the campaign.

Rising Stars a Preserve Unbeaten Record
Rising Stars FC fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Braveheart FC. Ugwa Success fired Braveheart ahead shortly after the restart, before Rising Stars responded with a leveller in the 76th minute to rescue a point.

The result keeps Rising Stars unbeaten after three rounds — one win, two draws — and third on the log with five points.

Westgate and Light FC Share Spoils
Light FC came from behind to draw 1-1 with Westgate FC. Elegbede Festus gave Westgate the lead before Wisdom Ajayi equalised for Light in the 70th minute.

Westgate remains bottom of the table, but the point offers a measure of confidence heading into Week Four.

Week Four in Projection
Pressure now falls squarely on Delight FC, who will look to extend their winning run and protect their place at the summit. Konstanz Dike Foundation will be eager to respond after suffering their first setback, while Rising Stars FC have the chance to convert draws into wins and close the gap on the leaders.

In midtable, Light FC and St. Andrew Foundation look evenly matched and could push into the top three with another positive result. At the bottom, Braveheart FC, Shavik FC, and Westgate FC need victories to avoid being cut adrift as the league begins to gather momentum.

With only four points separating second and fifth, and the title race still wide open behind the leaders, Week Four promises another compelling chapter in the maiden edition of the Edo Elite Super League.
