…as Shaibu hosts Chinese Consulate delegation
Edo State Government has affirmed its commitment to strengthening its relationship with China to enhance economic growth and improve the livelihoods of the citizenry.
The Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu gave the assurance when he hosted a delegation of the Chinese Consulate, led by the Acting Consul General, Mr. Jin Mingyu, at the Government House, Benin City.
Welcoming his August visitors, the Deputy Governor posited that the State was currently home to many Chinese Companies while urging the Consul General to use his privileged position to attract more Chinese investors to the Heartbeat of Nigeria.
“We are happy to have Chinese business people in our State. They are doing very well, contributing their quota to the socio-economic development of our State. Edo and China share similar cultural values, so Edo is like home to Chinese people”.
“Our Government is developing an industrial park – very close to our independent power plant for constant power supply. We expect more Chinese business people to come to take advantage of our industrial park and invest in our State”.
“In terms of security, Edo is one of the safest States in Nigeria. Our security architecture is tight because it’s tied towards. There are a lot of business opportunities for investors due to the peculiar geographical location of Edo. Our unique location is a plus for us”.

Shaibu canvassed an exchange program between Chinese businessmen and technical experts with their Edo counterparts for a sustainable business relationship”.
“As a Government, we will continue to provide the enabling environment for Chinese businesses to thrive and protect their interest”.
The Deputy Governor commended the Consul General for his visit to Edo State while expressing optimism for more such visits as a strategic plan for attracting more Chinese investments in Edo State.
Speaking earlier, the acting Chinese Consul General, Mr. Jin Mingyu, said he was in Edo State to interact with Chinese business owners and companies to render necessary support.

He noted that Chinese Companies in Edo State were running successfully while assuring attract more investments to the State.
The Chinese Envoy affirmed his determination to further cement and consolidate the relationship between China and Edo State.
“It’s my vision to contribute to advancing the economic frontiers and sustainable development of Edo State. To achieve our set targets, we need the support and partnership of the Edo State Government”.
According to the Consul General, ” l asked questions about the security situation in Edo State and the information I got is that Edo is one of the safest States in Nigeria. Your Governor has visited China several times; I hope that this will engender more Chinese business owners to come set up their businesses in Nigeria, particularly Edo State”, Mr. Jin Mingyu added.
