Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has once again taken to social media to warn the Nigerian Olympic Committee and the Athletic Federation of Nigeria of her intention to see the ongoing issue to the end.

Recall that Favour Ofili’s name was dropped from the 100M race for Team Nigeria at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics with various explanations on the cause for the drop. The athlete on July 30th took to her X handle to disclose her omission from the 100M race she had waited all her life to compete in at the Olympics.

The AFN responded to her query, denying knowledge of her ommision, stating that all due diligence were done from their end.

We registered Ofili for 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay, says AFN
“We registered Ofili for the 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay. We don’t know how her name got missing in the 100m. This is our stand as a federation,” said, AFN Technical Director Samuel Onikeku as quoted by BSNSports

Not satisfied with the outcome and their explanation, the track sensation Friday after took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to air her displeasure at the attitude of the federation and the committee.

In her post at 12:03 pm, the 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist wrote: “Sadly, nothing has been done… I’m yet to see or hear anyone is being punished for what the NOC and AFN did to me. Athletes shouldn’t be getting punished for things out of their control”.

In her angry mood, she questioned the World Athletics for not calling the NOC and AFN to question when the qualified athletes were not registered for the events they qualified for.

“Who assigned federations and/or Olympic committees to enter athletes into the Olympic Games? Is it World Athletics? If so, should they not hold them accountable when they fail to do their job by not entering athletes in events they qualify for and want to compete?”

In what could be seen as an intention to see to the end of the unfortunate act, the 21-year-old warned that the end has not come to the matter.

“NOC and AFN… This is not the first time you guys are doing this, so don’t think this is over because it is not”.
