Manasseh Achii Draws Confidence From BAL Experience

The President of Nigeria basketball men’s league —Marktown Flyers, Manasseh Achii has expressed confidence that the club’s recent experience in Morocco has strengthened the team mentally and competitively, Platinum News is reporting.

Speaking after his side’s opening victory in the 2026 Nigeria Basketball Men’s Premier League, the former player described the international exposure as a valuable experience that every club should have.

“It was amazing. It was a very great experience. I wish every team in the league got to experience that because it changes a lot of things for you. It was a great experience for us.”

The administrator admitted that the team had little time to recover after returning from Morocco, but praised his players for finding a way to secure victory despite fatigue.

“We just got back from Morocco basically within two weeks. The guys did not really rest and there was a lot of moving around, but we are not disappointed at all. It’s a good start and we found a way to win, which is what we do.”

Looking ahead to their next fixture, the Achii emphasised that the mentality remains unchanged.

“Same thing — we come out, play hard, and find a way to win again.”

When asked about the team’s ambitions for the season, he responded confidently, insisting that the defending champions are not in the league merely to participate.

“You think we are in the league just to participate? That’s not what we came out here to do.”
