NFF President Stresses Deliberation as Waldrum Contract Expires

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has emphasized the importance of careful consideration as the contract of the Super Falcons’ coach, Randy Waldrum, expires.

The NFF President highlighted the significance of allowing the Technical Committee ample time to carry out their duties and provide a well-informed recommendation for the team’s leadership as they prepare for the Olympic qualifiers.

“Next month, the Super Falcons will play in the Olympic Qualifiers, and before that time, we must have decided on who will be the coach,” the NFF President stated, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

With the team’s participation in the Olympic Qualifiers looming, the selection of a new coach or renewal of Waldrum’s contract takes on added significance as bit Waldrum and some NFF officials have been at loggerheads in recent times.

Randy Waldrum, a US-based coach, has played a crucial role in guiding the Super Falcons to a round-of-16 finish at the ongoing women’s World Cup after defeating tournament host, Australia and playing a few against the Republic of Ireland and Olympic Champions, Canada.

The NFF President’s call for a methodical and thorough evaluation process reflects the commitment to securing a capable and fitting replacement for Waldrum.

The Technical Committee will assume the responsibility of renewing his contract or reviewing potential candidates and making a well-reasoned recommendation.
