Kano Pillars winger Yusuf Abdullahi, scored five goals for his team on Sunday as the Sai Masu Gida side defeated Gombe United 5-2 at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe state, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The winger is now second only to Emem Eduok of Dolphins for the highest number of goals scored in a football match in the top division of Nigerian football. Emem scored six goals for his team in October 2014 against Nembe City, a record that is yet to be broken.

Abdullahi scored his first goal in the 10th minute of the game before doubling the tally four minutes later.

Then Sadiq Shuaibu pulled one back for Gombe United before Yusuf responded again in the 33rd minute with his third goal of the game.

Yusuf added his fourth goal at the stroke of halftime before making it five in the 60th minute.

At the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasigba, Ibadan, struggling Heartland FC of Owerri fought hard to earn a point, playing out a goalless draw with Shooting Stars sports club (3SC), thereby hampering 3SC’s chase to the top of the table.

Kano Pillars will host struggling Akwa United in Kano in a matchday 12 midweek fixture while Heartland FC trades tackle with Federation Cup holders, Bendel Insurance at the Dan Ayam Stadium, Owerri, Imo State on Wednesday.
