NPFL24: Bayelsa escape relegation zone with away win, Pillars scores five again, as Heartland returns to bottom of the table

Sunday results from the Nigeria Premier Football League 2023/2024 season, match day 21 saw Lobi Stars climb the top of the log with Bayelsa’s crucial away win helping them leave the relegation zone, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

Six games across six centres recorded 10 goals with six of the goals coming in the game between Kano Pillars and Sunshine Stars.

Kano Pillars 5-1 Sunshine Stars: Kano Pillars becomes the first team to score 5+ goals in two NPFL matches in a season after Plateau United in the 2019/2020 season.

Ofem Eyong got the winner for Bayelsa United in the 77th minute. The victory takes the Bayelsa side out of the relegation zone.

Lobi Stars 1-0 Heartland: Heartland finds themselves at the bottom of the log after being defeated by Lobi Stars who become table toppers as a result of the victory. The goal came from in-form Suur Kumaga in the 66th minute.

With Remo Stars yet to play their Match Day 21 game, the Makurdi-based side climbs the top of the log with 3 points above Remo who currently are second on the log.

Niger Tornadoes 1-0 Abia Warriors: Niger Tornadoes get out of the relegation zone with a win over Abia Warriors. The goal came from Ikenna Offor in the 76th minute.

Plateau United 0-0 3SC: Plateau United share the spoils with 3SC of Ibadan after a goalless draw. The Jos-based side dropped to fifth on the log behind Enyimba who sits in fourth place.

Gombe United 2-0 Sporting Lagos: Gombe United remains in relegation water after defeating Sporting Lagos by two goals to nil with goals from Lukman Balogun and Taiye Yusuf.

The Sunday results of matchday 21 saw an away win, a draw and four home wins recorded.
