NPFL24: Clinical Akwa United secures second league win in a five goal thriller against Remo Stars

Sikiru Alimi was on target for Remo Stars against struggling Akwa United at the Eket Stadium, Akwa Ibom state on Sunday, but the Promise Keepers were clinical on the day to outscore their opponents, earning a deserved victory, platinumnewsng.com is reporting.

The match day nine fixture saw Remo Stars drawing first blood, as their in form striker, Sikiru Alimi headed home from a well delivered cross in the 15th minute of the game.

Dare Ojo headed in an equalizer for the home team, eight minutes later to bring the host right back into the game. His header came off a well executed cross from the right wing by Akintunde Bala.

Uche Collins scored on his birthday in the 26th minutes, to put Akwa United right ahead in the game. He fired first time on goal after receiving a low pass from midfield.

Second half substitute, Rilwan Sadiq tucked in Akintunde Bala low cross into the back of the net to extend the lead for the promise keepers in the 62nd minute.

Aniekeme Okon scored a second goal for the visitors, pilling pressure on the home team, who seriously needed their second home win of the season. In the end, the 2021 champions were able to hold on to the lead.
